Top Action and Thriller Authors: #3 Lee Child

lee childWe’ve all heard the expression “art imitates life;” whether it be movies, television, or books; entertainment tend to represent the topics of the day. For example in the action and thriller genre, the movement of terrorism to front page news has brought authors such as Vince Flynn to the forefront with his Mitch Rapp character repeatedly saving the world from terror. Anti-terrorism novels have become one of the most prolific genres in fiction today. So far our countdown of the top action and thriller authors has proven this out with anti-terrorism authors #5 Marc Cameron and #4 Nelson Demille holding the first 2 spots on our list.

#3 Lee Child

Lee Child has been a favorite of fiction enthusiasts for years but the recent movie release of Jack Reacher brought the character to prominence. I’m not a movie critic so I will refrain from commenting on the casting of Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher however I would like to clarify that the character in the books is described as a large, brawny ex-delta so I urge those of you have never read Lee Child not to judge him by the movie portrayal. Whether its protecting the innocent or solving a crime, Jack Reacher is always up for the fight.

Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series begins with Killing Floor, introducing Reacher a former military-policeman returning to civilian life. What distinguishes Lee Child from others in the action and thriller genres is that others, such as Marc Cameron and Nelson Demille tend to deal with national security issues while Lee Child spans a variety of crises that can span from criminal to ethical issues. I’m a big fan of Lee Child’s work; if you enjoy the action and thriller genre I think you’ll find Lee Child very entertaining.
